Volcom Stone’s long-running Peanut Butter and Rail Jam returns to Bear Mountain on January 15. Four divisions—ages 15 and under, 16 and over, Girls and Open (Pro-Am)—are open to entrants on a first come, first serve basis, as riders take on side-by-side rails in The Scene, Bear’s collection of hike-to hits right above The Deck. Don’t worry about falling during your 20-minute heat; the judges only consider the tricks you pull. Registration is free at 8 a.m. in The Board Room and there’s tons of prizes and food including $50 for the “Gooeyest” move of the event. Every participant goes home with a Volcom T-shirt and sticker too. Last season nearly 200 entrants put on a great show in The Scene. Bear is the fourth stop of the 17-event North American series. Others are at Sierra-at-Tahoe, Mountain High, Moonlight Basin, Lake Louise, Waterville Valley, Brighton and Keystone, before the invite-only series championships, featuring $30,000 cash purse, at Mammoth on April 21.
