Show music comes to life for three nights at Community Church by the Lake during the high school production of “Big Bear on Broadway” on November 3-5.

    From Les Miserables to Chicago, Into the Woods to Wicked, music from 15 Broadway shows will be presented by the high school’s jazz and concert bands, drama club and selected soloists. There’s also pieces from The Little Mermaid, Funny Girl, Hair, Rent, She Loves Me, Company, Light in the Piazza, Spring Awakening, American Idiot, Tarzan, Merrily We Role Along and more. In all six big production numbers will be performed along with 16 solo songs.

    Highlights included a medley of Chicago songs performed by Concert Choir and choreographed by Maria Lowe from Bear Valley Studio of Performing Arts. Drama Club presents “Aquarius” from Hair with soloists Tashia Wormsbecker and Dani Bush. Cheyenne Baragiola performs “Strangers Like Me” from Wicked.

    Then there’s senior Jake Maybrier singing “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables,” the favorite tune from Les Miserables, while Chloe-Ellen Renn presents “Moments in the Woods” from Sondheim’s Into the Woods. The show’s finale stars the whole cast in “Finale B” from Rent.

    All shows are at 7 p.m. and tickets are $10, $8 senior, $5 students. Karl and Diane Thompson are producers. Community Church is at 40946 Big Bear Blvd.
